I am hiking the route again to check it this summer and it should be available for the 2014 hiking season. There have been major reroutes to the GR11 since the 2008 edition of the Cicerone guide.
The HRP is much more demanding than the GR11. The GR11 is at the toughest end of the walking spectrum and the HRP edges into mountaineering rather than walking.
You can see my journal to my 2003 GR11 trip on www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?trailname=4166.
Brian JohnsonAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08161448795784781946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5920557057591059630.post-82571821300929607292012-09-05T14:12:40.599+02:002012-09-05T14:12:40.599+02:00Sorry for the confusion with the account names ;)

Temperature drop from 15 to 0 in half an hour. 40 centimeters of snow overnight.
Really didn´t like that.
GuessI have to work on my mountain goat appearance a little bit more ;)INKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01008395758731375794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5920557057591059630.post-76130337390706258432012-09-05T14:03:46.062+02:002012-09-05T14:03:46.062+02:00Felix, yes, you are a mountain goat! It took me 33 days to do the whole trail in 2009. Does that mean I am a mountain goat ;)
The only thing that i found annoying after a while was that sometimes it felt like some useless up and down. Like whenever you could go down or up the GR11 would follow that way. The locals told me that it is because of how the pyrenees are shaped.
Maybe you should have chosen the HRP for your traverse. More days of food to carry but less ups and downs.
I remember that climb you mentioned very well. Even though I had to go down.
I hope you still remember the pyrenees as beautiful as they are. All the best on the remaining rest of your europe tour.

Maybe when you are back i can invite you to another piece of cake.

All the best and wishes from Berlin!

Felix (INK)INKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01008395758731375794noreply@blogger.com
